SHOWER TO THE PEOPLE:

TURN YOUR UNUSED HOTEL TOILETRIES INTO SOCIAL CHANGE

PROVIDENCE, August 11, 2004 – Appearing at the MAGIC trade show for the first time, Miko Exoticwear of Providence Rhode Island requests donations of unused hotel toiletries.  Please bring any unopened shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, and lotion from your hotel rooms to booth 32072 located on the second floor of the South Hall at the MAGIC trade show in the Las Vegas Convention Center August 30th through September 2nd.  The Miko Fund will distribute the items to Safe Nest and Safe House in Las Vegas.

The Miko Fund, the action arm of Miko Exoticwear, is a Providence based fund dedicated to providing assistance to various community organizations that support open exploration of sexuality and help empower women.  The Miko Exoticwear booth will feature fabulous gift items, latex clothing, studded leather belts and collars, tattooed and pierced figurines, a hot line of t-shirts by Doggy Style Design, and erotic books at 60 to 90 percent off.

Safe Nest and Safe House are Las Vegas organizations that help victims of domestic violence by providing them with shelter, food, clothing, and other resources.  Safe Nest has two temporary shelters for men, women, and children and provides legal advocates, counseling, and housing, employment, and childcare contacts. Safe Nest also has a 24-hour crisis line and works with other Las Vegas shelters and the Nevada child welfare system.  Safe House provides short-term shelter and transitional housing for men, women and children as well as counseling, batterers’ treatment, legal contacts, and support that extends beyond clients’ stay with them.  Visit www.safenest.org, www.safehousenv.org, and www.themikofund.org for more information about each of these organizations.
